Best friends forever

Hi, I’m Cookie

PP number: PP1407

Name: Cookie

Species: Congo African Grey

Adoption fee: £CITES

Cage Supplied: No

Introduction:

Hi I’m Cookie! I’m a female African Grey parrot (I know this because I laid an egg when I came to my safehouse!).

History/Background:

I came to Problem Parrots in 2022 through no fault of my own. We are unsure of how old I am, but it is believed that I’m in my teenage years.

Current Presentation:

I am a beautiful bird, although I am missing a few of my feathers! I have a few ‘red factor’ feathers too.

Training:

I could use a little help with training to step up and go back into my cage as it’s not always easy to put me to bed. Putting food in my cage helps! I also need some encouragement to fly more often.

Diet:

I am currently enjoying a diet of Johnston and Jeff Lean and Fit seed mix, alongside fresh fruit and vegetables (although I can be picky with these!). I have been a bit too reliant on seed in the past so will need some encouragement to try new things.

Enrichment:

I love chewing cardboard, paper, and wooden toys (anything I can make a mess with really!). I can fly, but I prefer walking around and climbing, and I also love dancing to music!

Summary:

Cookie is probably best matched with a home where she can be the only bird, or perhaps with one other parrot. She likes children and women, but does not like men (you would know if you tried to touch her!). She will usually accept head tickles from people she likes, however.

When given the time and attention she needs, Cookie has a great character and has the potential to make a great bird for the right family. If you could be the right home for her, please don’t hesitate to apply below.
