Coco & Poe PP1475 PP1477

Coco & Poe PP1475/PP1477

Species: African Grey
Name: Coco & Poe
Adoption Fee: CITES

Location: Reading, Berkshire
Cage Supplied: Coco has a cage but Poe will need a new one please.

Introduction:

These two are a bonded pair. Coco is an 11 year old female, and Poe is a 10 year old male.

History/Background:

Coco and Poe came into the charity, after commitment changes in their home of 8 years. They are now looking for their new forever home. They do not share a cage as they have been known to pluck each other.

Current Presentation:

They were both a little nervous settling into their safehouse but in a short time they have come out of their shell and settled into their new surroundings well. Neither have a favourite person and will step up to males or females but only when they want to. Coco is more likely to step up and aceppt fusses on her own terms. Poe has stepped up only when Coco has, this may change as he becomes more trusting.

They both love to pop, whistle and make lots of funny noises including zips and fart sounds. There are lots of words between them that we haven’t deciphered yet. Poe also says Peekaboo.

Coco does not fly well as she has plucked her tail feathers. She does fly from shoulder to her cage and other short distances. She also holds onto the side of the cage and flaps so hard it looks like she is trying to lift it!

Poe doesn’t fly as he has plucked his tail and flight feathers, this may change if they are growing back.

They are covered at night and settle down very quickly. Most of the time they will step up to go to bed. If they are not to keen, a walnut in their bowl will entice them in.

They have not welcomed a shower yet, but they both like to bath in their water bowls.

They have been cage territorial, so cleaning is best done when they are out. Though this does seem to be improving.

Training:

They would benefit from some ongoing training as they are very intelligent and it would keep them busy too!

Diet:

Coco and Poe eat fresh vegetable/fruit chop. They also have Tidymix seed with some Zupreem fruit blend. They do prefer the seed mix but have been trying the vegetables more. They can be messy with their fresh food and throw a lot out of their bowls.

They do not appear to be very adventurous trying new foods, we are experimenting with different size and coloured foods.

Enrichment:

Both enjoy shredding toys including cardboard boxes. They also enjoy making you play fetch with cardboard toilet roll tubes.

Summary:

They are a lovely pair who really deserve the best forever home. If you think you could be Coco and Poes new home please apply below!
