Dolly pp 619

Dolly pp

Species:   umbrella cockatoo
Name: Dolly
Adoption Fee: £400

Location: Bristol
Cage Supplied: Yes, a large  one.

Introduction:

Hi, I’m Dolly, a fabulous umbrella cockatoo! I’m nearly 41 years young.

History/Background:

Unfortunately, Dolly has a sad background she came from a home where she suffered a broken wing and was very stressed so badly plucked.

A older lady then rescued her but wasn’t able to give her everything so badly needed so she came to us. Dolly would rather have a male care giver as she is a little nervous with ladies. dolly is not able to fly due to her broken wing however this does not affect her either.

Current Condition:

Due to Dolly’s past she  has some health conditions that would need to kept up with.

she has a heart murmur that she’s given medication for pp will continue to pay the cost of this. She has a crackle in her lung although this does not seem to effect her. dolly suffers from strong hormones and needs the hormonal implant this could also be supported by us. as you can see dolly does pluck and can make herself bleed but this is manageable and we will support in this with all the knowledge we have as well as online support.

Please don’t let this put you off me as I’ve a lot to give also.

Training:

Dolly is handled frequently, this going well although we do have the odd set back.

Diet:

Dolly has as30 seed. fruit and veg although not keen on this we keep trying ! there has to be something right lol…

And various nuts as treats.

Enrichment:

Dolly loves to be out and human interaction, loves to play with toys and destroy carboard in true cockatoo fashion. She likes to roam about the floor and searching for treats often using the curtains  to climb down to do so !

Dolly loves music from baby shark to I can only count to 4.

Summary:

Dolly is a great bird that  knows her mind she needs a male care giver. she has been about teens but  no younger children pls. Dolly can over bond very quickly with her male care giver and will  fend of female presents while out with a male present this can make her nippy at that time.

Dolly needs a calm life so she does not get stressed and needs to be with someone experienced in over bonding, experience with toos a advantage but  not essential as we will advise you of her routine etc.

She loves a cuddle and is very loving towards her care giver , however she does not like being left alone so will need someone at home most of the day please, she can also on the odd occasion drop a naughty word.

If she fits into your life I guarantee she will melt your heart.
