Introduction:
Hello everyone, my name is Charlie aka the golden retriever if you’re after a dog companion, but for whatever reason you can’t have one, then look no further, it’s me you’re looking for!
I’m currently seeking a female companion to spend my time with. I’m ok with males, but can be temperamental. What can I say, I’m a gal’s gal! My current safehouse mam keeps telling me I’m a gorgeous girl. (Have you seen me? Of course I am!) Now I’ll let you read on to help you fall in love with me. Enjoy!
History/Background:
Everyone at Problem Parrots thought I was a boy, but my original mam clarified I have laid an egg before so that’s out the window! I was a much -loved girl but due to exceptional circumstances my family made the decision to let me go. They were selfless and put my needs first, so I can get the home and care I deserve. They still love me very much, but then again who can blame them, I am amazing! Everyone I have ever met has said the same thing, so it doesn’t count as inflating my ego!
Training:
I am harness trained and attended a lot of bird shows. In turn I travel extremely well in the car.
I will take treats gently off you inside and outside of my cage. So no issues here.
My current safe-house mam says I would love to have free roam, but what she doesn’t realise is I know I get an extra tasty treat and a hug to get back in my cage, so, more fool her! Haha. When she’s out of the room I dip in and out of my cage like it’s no one’s business, but shhhh she doesn’t need to know that! Regrettably, I may need further encouragement when you’re around to go back in.
Diet:
I was previously on AS30 and have been on Johnston and Jeff lean and fit, Girls got to keep in shape!
I love fresh fruit and vegetables, and these are required daily to keep me in tip top condition.
Enrichment:
WOOD all the wood!! I love nothing more than using my strong beak to break through wood like a karate master.
I like to dig in cardboard boxes and find holes to hide in.
I do love to be with you, take a stroll around the house or outside, taking showers and ripping boxes up to find those pesky treats that are hidden from me! (Why does my safe-house mam do that? Roll eyes!)
Snuggles, kisses and head scratches daily please! No, I am not high maintenance, I just know my worth!
`p.s. Did I mention wood?
Summary:
I am a social butterfly and love all the attention, but love nothing more than snuggling up with you, with all the head scratches your arms can take. I dream of having my own shoulder to perch on. All day everyday is desirable, so please can I have someone who is around for most of the day. Although I will, if I must, be the best girl ever in my cage, when you do the thing you humans call work! I suppose it is for my benefit as I can shred my wooden toys up in an instant so they need to be replaced often. You’re welcome! It’s to keep you motivated. However if I get a hint you’re home, I will make myself known and do a little performance for you. Although, I am incredibly quiet for a cockatoo and will settle quickly.
I am a highly qualified hugger, master of wood destruction, can win any chop eating contest especially brocolli, peas, sweetcorn, egg, chicken and walnuts. Yum! Speaking of chop, I am a time served Quality Assessor, and I will need to be across everything to ensure only the tastiest ingredients are prepared!
When I love, I love hard, with this I can be a bit territorial with the opposite sex (well you can’t say I’m not honest!) Although, I will allow tickles and food off of male humans. Well. because you know, a girl’s got to eat and be told I’m pretty!
When it’s bedtime I will make a little sound and you know it’s time to cover me up as I need to sleep. I love sleep, the more the merrier. I won’t wake you up if my room is nice and dark until you get me up in the morning. So hopefully you like sleep too!
I currently live with my safe-house mam, dad and furless sisters (kids) I don’t mind these, they pet me and give me treats. I also have a feathered sister here (African Grey), yeah, I don’t acknowledge she is there, along with a furry brother and two furry sisters (dogs and a cat) I don’t mind them in the room and I am getting used to them being around my cage, but I am not allowed out with them! So, I suppose I will tolerate more of these things. However, if it were just, you and I, that would be good too!
So if you think you can give me the best home, I promise I will give you everything I have. I will be your one and only and bring you so much joy to your life. I am only a young girl (approximately teens) so I have decades of love to give. Do you?
XOXO Charlie
