Introduction:
Hi, we are Bella and George, a bonded pair of greys. We are best friends so it is important that we are rehomed together! We get on very well, but have different personalities.
Bella – I am the more confident of the two of us.When I get to know you I am very loving and put my head down for scratches. I only like this when I ask for them though. I love to dance and whistle a tune! I like to be out of my cage and walk around and explore. I don’t like to step up yet but we are working on it.
George – I am a little more timid than my friend Bella. I am a little wary of new people but my safehouse say I’m a very sweet bird. I love to sit on top of my cage and watch everyone get on with their day. Sometimes when I know you I will step up to your arm, but I am a little shy. In the past I had a habit of plucking my feathers but I am doing well with not doing this anymore, they have been growing back so I now have a fluffy tummy. This will be something that you should keep and eye on though.
History/Background:
We have come from a loving home, but unfortunately circumstances changed for our previous owners, so we came into the charity. George is 12 years old and Bella is around 11 years old.
Training:
Both of us know how to step up, but we don’t always like to. We know that we get a treat if we go back in our cage for bedtime.
Diet:
We are both currently on Johnston and Jeff Lean and Fit, no sunflower and no peanut seed mix. We both eat a range of veg and fruit. Some of our favourites are kale, brocolli and corn. We do love a walnut as a treat sometimes too.
Enrichment:
We both love to be out of our cage! Bella loves to explore her surroundings on the floor and will sometimes approach you to say hello. She also loves you singing and whistling to her and will often dance and whistle with you.
George loves to be sat on top of the cage watching everyone. His favourite toy is a ball with a bell inside that he will spend hours chewing on and ringing the bell.
We both love to shred paper and cardboard, and have currently got a book in our cage that we are enjoying destroying!
We both love to listen to music.
Summary:
Both of these birds are just beautiful and will brighten up any home. They are a joy to be around and with the right home, love, patience and training, they will really thrive and be a great addition to your family. Initially we were told Bella prefers females and George prefers males, but both have been comfortable around me, my husband and our three children, George has stepped up for me and my husband, and Bella accepts head scratches from us both too. It is important they stay together as a pair as they are bonded and wouldn’t cope well being separated. As they live together please bear in mind that the cage is very big, so you would need to be sure you have the space for it.
