Hi my name is Ruby, I’m a very pretty but small African grey.
Ruby was given to a young teenager as a gift and after a while, he found it hard to care for her. So he made the decision to find her a new home.
I am a fully feathered african grey, I do try to fly but I’m not really good at it but I am learning. I am a small bird with a big attitude.
I am learning to step up as this is a new thing for me. I will need training all the time so I can learn to trust people and be able to spend time with them. Maybe clicker training would benefit me.
I am eating Johnston & Jeff low sunflower blend and I love it. I am a bit partial to some carrot and strawberries, and love throwing the strawberry juice all over.
I have some wooden toys that i like to have a good chew at so these need replacing often. I do love paper shredding and will shred a magazine within an hour and chew my way out of a box which Is fun, specially if there are hidden treats. I love my swing in my cage and go on it for most of the day.
Ruby is a loving bird and is ok around children. she does love a good head scratch and doesn’t have a preference if its male or female. She does need more training for stepping up but is happy enough to be on top of her cage or playing on her swing. The other birds here don’t bother her either so a home with other birds would be good. She does try to fly but she isn’t very good at it and has had some crash landings.
Ruby will make an excellent addition to any family, she is happy playing on her own independently or spending time getting head tickles from anyone who offers.
She is not a noisy girl, we don’t notice her here sometimes. She is quite happy on her swing, chatting away to herself.
If you can offer Ruby the home she needs, then please don’t hesitate to apply. You will not be disappointed.
