Best friends forever

Hi, I’m Koko

PP number: PP865

Name: Koko

Species: Congo African Grey

Adoption Fee: £CITES

Cage Supplied: Yes, and a travel cage

Introduction:

Hi, I’m Koko, a beautiful Congo African Grey parrot.

History/Background:

I am 11 years old and, sadly, my previous carer passed away.

Current Presentation:

My feathers are in beautiful condition and I am a very handsome boy!

Training:

I know how to step up, but ongoing training will be needed as I am not keen on stepping up from my cage. I can also be cheeky when food is put in my cage as I get a little bit scared, but I just need some reassurance and some help to learn that I’m safe.

Diet:

I’m not keen on vegetables or Harrison’s pellets, but my safehouse carers keep trying them with me!

Enrichment:

I love dancing, whistling, and being out of my cage as much as possible! I like watching TV too. I will play with toys when they are introduced to me slowly and I like shredding cardboard boxes and paper! Foot toys are my favourites though, and I’ve been known to play fetch!

Summary:

Koko is a lovely bird who would benefit from living in a quiet home where he can have lots of time out of his cage and plenty of individual attention. He would be best suited to a home with either no other birds or with parrots at least as big as him, as smaller birds unsettle him. While he doesn’t attack other birds, he prefers his own space. He has been known to become frightened around small children, so somewhere quiet would be ideal.

Koko is an intelligent bird and loves to find ways to get out of his cage – he is very good at undoing clips and locks, so any future carer will have to take care to make sure he is safe when in his cage! He can be quite skittish and is afraid of towels, blankets, cushions, etc., and prefers a bath to a spray bottle shower.

He is a sweet parrot who would do very well in a home that can give him what he needs and has the potential to make a wonderful companion for the right family. If you could offer him a great home, please don’t hesitate to apply below!
