Hello I am Ringo the Kakariki and these are my friends Lightening who is also a Kakariki and Polly the Cockatiel. We all now live together in the same cage.
Our previous owner kept us together with the budgies, finches and canaries in an indoor aviary. My previous owner said we all loved our food and water. But we didn’t like hands but myself and Polly would step up and go out of the cage with her, whereas lightening would fly off and was too fast to catch. Our previous owner said that I would say hello and Polly would say talk talk Polly, love you Polly and hello Polly. Our ages and any information on our history or health is unknown.
Our safe house family have taken myself and Lightening and placed in a separate cage as we were being bullied by the budgies in the indoor aviary. When we got to our safe house Polly was in a cage on her own as they were told she didn’t get on with the other cockatiels. Since arriving at our safe house none of us has spoken but Polly does like to wolf whistle at our safe house dad. We all enjoy warm water showers.
We have had no training as we don’t like hands and won’t step up even though our safe house family try to encourage us to do this we are very weary.
We are given budgie seed mix with fresh fruit, veg and boiled eggs by our previous owner. Our safe house family has put us onto AS30 along with fresh fruit and veg. They did give us boiled eggs but we aren’t very keen on them and we eat some of the fruit and veg given to us.
As we won’t come out of our cage we don’t come out to play our safe house family has provided us with toys and swing. We love to chew so we are given paper and cardboard as we chewed their curtains.
Polly is a delightful lady who loves to talk to you and give kisses. Ringo has a sweet character who loves you to come a talk. Lightening is shy and weary of you.
