Hi, I’m Pida

PP number: PP1283

Name: Pida

Species: Lovebird

Adoption fee: £35

Description:

Introduction

Pida is a 12 year old lovebird. He is very calm natured and loves attention.

History/Background:

Pida has lived in the UK for approximately 8 years. He moved here with his owners. He has previously lived with another lovebird but since that bird passed he has been an only bird. Pida is OK around young children as he lived with a baby. He came into the charity when he became rather demanding over lockdown and the more he was out the more he wanted even more attention and the noise he made was too loud.

Current Presentation:

Pida can be quite loud if he can’t see anyone around. But when he is near people he loves to sit with them and have head tickles. He is not confident stepping up, although he has done it twice since being in Safehouse. He would much rather surf around on a shoulder. He is currently housed with other birds and whilst they are not in the same room, he has encountered 2 of them and seems very intrigued and not phased by them at all. He settles down at bedtime and has a good 12 hours sleep. During that time he does not make a sound. He has a cover which we use to cover him although we keep the front uncovered. He has not been fed fruit and veg in his previous home and despite having it put in daily this does not interest him at all at present.

Training:

We are doing ongoing training on Stepping up.

Diet:

Beaphar xtravital premium food

Enrichment:

Pida is out of his cage for approximately 10 hours a day and loves company. He has toys in his cage but is not interested in foot toys at all.

Summary:

Pida is a very calm natured lovebird who will make a lovely addition to someone’s home. Pida can make a fair amount of noise when he cannot see anyone or if he is not let out of his cage. He loves head tickles and will happily sit looking out of the window at the world passing by.
