Hi, I’m Paggi, a beautiful Orange-Winged Amazon parrot. I am a little shy, but once you get to know me, you will see how special I am.
I am believed to be around 15 years old. I came to the charity through no fault of my own as my previous owner passed away. I was with her for around 14 years and was very well loved.
I am a beautiful, fully feathered bird with stunning eyes.
I can be quite a fussy eater! I enjoy a diet of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as Johnston and Jeff Lean and Fit seed mix. My safehouse has been giving me a variety of fruit and vegetables to help me decide what my favourites are.
I can be very anxious and training is difficult and slow because of this. I am wary of hands, but I do know how to step up. I will only do so on my terms and occasionally at the moment, but with the right training and persistence I have the potential to learn to step up on command. I am also learning to be less wary of new people, and my safehouse carers are working with me on this.
I have lots of toys to play with, but I am not interested in them most of the time. I occasionally play with them, but I would like to be introduced to different kinds of toys and other enrichment to help me learn what I like best.
Paggi is a lovely bird with a lot of potential. She is a joy to be around and with the right family, she could make a wonderful companion. She will need lots of time, love, and patience to help her develop new skills and try new things. She enjoys her baths, likes head tickles, and has quite a large vocabulary! She says ‘night night’ when her cage is covered sometimes, she says ‘see you later!’ when she’s ready for bed, and several other things. She makes lots of cute noises (but she does say the occasional naughty word!).
She can be quite cage territorial and has been known to bite when she feels that her space is being invaded, but she has not drawn blood and the bites are not that hard. She can also be difficult to get in her cage, but she will go in with some persistence. She can be anxious, but with lots of patience and love she really could come out of her shell and be more sociable. She is a very sweet bird who just needs the right environment to thrive in. If you could provide this for her, please don’t hesitate to apply below!
