Introduction:
Hi, I’m Lilly, a Congo African Grey parrot. We are not sure about my age. I’m a very quiet bird, I do talk but not very often at the moment. I’ve no preferences to either men or women and I’m also happy to be around children. I enjoy my food and will eat just about anything you offer me. I’m a shy and nervous girl, but I just need my confidence building up. My cage door is left open but I’ve only been brave enough to venture out of it once, as I feel much safer in my cage.
History/background:
I was a much loved and cared for parrot with my previous family, which I was with for a long time. As hard as it was to say our goodbyes, they did what was right for me.
Current Presentation:
I am a beautiful girl who is very quiet and shy.
Training:
I have done some clicker training and while I don’t step up on to arms, I will step up on a wooden dowel stick. I think I would benefit from some more training.
Diet:
I’m currently eating Johnston and Jeff African Grey seed mix. I love all fruit and vegetables. I’m given pine nuts and sunflower seeds as a treat. I really love my food.
Enrichment:
I enjoy a variety of toys and I am very spoilt. My favourite thing is a cardboard box to tear up at the bottom of my cage, it keeps me entertained for hours. I also like shredding up newspaper.
Summary:
Lilly is an absolute pleasure to care for. She’s a very quiet bird, she does talk but needs her confidence building up. Lilly has only ventured out of her cage once since joining the Problem Parrots family but the door to her cage is always open. She might benefit being the only bird in your flock so that she can gain in confidence and get the training, attention, and time she needs to thrive. She’s a pleasure to be around. If you can give her a home where her character will shine through, please don’t hesitate to apply below.
