Introduction

Hello everyone our names are Harry & Penguin we are a bonded pair. I’m Harry the Amazon and Penguin is the Senegal. We came into problem parrots through no fault of our own.

We have been in our safehouse for couple months now our safehouse mum & dad say we are lovely, we are enjoying being here as we get loads of attention but neither of us like coming out our cage much even though mum opens our door everyday, we are happy in our cage playing with our toys or just sitting together chilling out. At first we were a little scared of hands in our cage but we are now ok with this.

We love to interact with the humans here but we don’t really like children. Harry loves to chat, whistle and has an amazing laugh he copied from sh mum, Penguin is very nervous but will take a treat from hands now.

We both love our fresh fruit & veg every morning and we will take treats from our humans and but we still not to sure about having head scratch but mum is still persisting hoping one day we will be ok and let her. In our safehouse there’s mum dad brother and two dogs which we don’t really see a lot but they don’t bother us when they do come in as mum always makes sure our cage door is locked. Me harry doesn’t mind being sprayed but Penguin likes to bath in his water bowl.

History/Background:

Due to change in circumstances our old owners couldn’t keep us.

Current Presentation:

A little about me Harry mum & dad say I’m a beautiful bird and love having me here even though I don’t like anyone stroking my head I just bite but mum does keep trying, but I happily take a treat. I’m still very unsure about coming out my cage even though I can if I want to as door is opened everyday. I love interacting with the humans here but am happy playing with toys in  my cage or sitting with my bonded partner Penguin. I tend to be very noisy when mum is on the phone or dad is working in the office. I don’t mind male or female carer but I’m not too keen on little humans. I love a shower mum tells me it shows my beautiful colours. I have learnt quiet a bit since being here I’ve an amazing laugh which everyone finds funny, I growl & bark like the dog, I say hello to everyone that comes in and my latest talent is the famous wolf whistle. Mum says I’m an absolute beauty and a great pleasure to have around.

A little about me Penguin  sh mum & dad say I’m a little cutie and love having me here even though I’m very nervous, I’ve got splayed legs so I need flat perches or rope ones but I manage really well. I don’t like hands too close to me as I get scared, but will take a grape but that’s my limit. I love to hang upside down from top of cage, I hate being sprayed or showered but will happily take a bath in water dish sh mum puts at bottom of cage. I love fresh fruit & veg , and I like to sleep in my food bowl. Both my safehouse parents say I’m a lovely little bird.

Training:

This is on going trying to get Harry & Penguin to trust enough to be touched this is possible with Harry in time but sadly Penguin is very nervous so this may never happen

Diet:

Fresh fruit & veg, Tidymix

Enrichment:

Plenty toys, hiding treats, cardboard/paper to shread, have variety of size/texture perches but due to Penguins splayed legs his better with flat or rope perches for good balance, foraging toys.

Summary:

Both Harry & Penguin are amazing birds in their own way, they are very closely bonded pair. Harry will entertain you with his laughing, talking, wolf whistle or growling / barking like the dog. Where as Penguin likes to act like a bat hanging upside down at top off cage , but his a  very nervous bird. Both don’t mind male or female carer, neither of them like children. Harry can be noisy if he doesn’t get attention. Both are very good eaters. Both of them have really touched our hearts great birds and real pleasure to have them as part of family.
