Best friends forever

Hi, I’m Buzz

PP number: PP827

Name: Buzz

Species: Congo African Grey

Adoption fee: CITES

Cage Supplied: Yes

Introduction:

Hi! My name is Buzz, a Congo African Grey parrot. I am a lovely, gentle boy looking for a new home where I can be around other birds and enjoy lots of company.

History/Background:

Not much is known about my background, but I came back into the charity through no fault of my own.

Current Presentation:

I am a fully feathered parrot who is very beautiful.

Training:

Training is still ongoing. I do step up (on my own terms) but I could use some help learning to step up on command. I do have a preference towards females and I am more willing to train with them. I can be nippy, but this will improve with training and trust.

Diet:

I like AS30 seed mix and Harrison’s pellets, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. I love eating and will try anything, but my favourites are apples, sugar snap peas, baby corn, and carrots. I am always willing to try new things.

Enrichment:

I love chewing cardboard and newspaper, but I’m not a big fan of toys generally. I like things I can make a mess with. I am a very confident boy and I love to dance and talk. I have a huge vocabulary, I like to say ‘hello’, ‘chip’, ‘mum’, ‘hold on tight’, and so many other words and phrases. I love to be in the company of other birds and to be out of my cage for most of the day.

Summary:

Buzz is an older bird, but we are unsure of his exact age. He loves to be out of his cage all day and to be with other birds. He is never aggressive towards them. He does have a preference for women and he has a tendency to bond to one person. He loves head tickles and getting lots of love.

Overall, Buzz is a lovely boy. He is confident, but fairly quiet for an African Grey, although he loves talking and has a huge vocabulary. He really enjoys the company of other birds and humans, so would be best suited to a home where he can make lots of friends. He has been a pleasure to safehouse and has been no trouble whatsoever.
